To the Editor:
Re “Yoga Teachers Need a Code of Ethics,” by Sarah Herrington (Op-Ed, June 7):
I fully support any effective way to prevent the vulnerable among us from being sexually abused. In every example Ms. Herrington described, there were countless other students and teachers who failed to report the abuse to law enforcement.
Teachers and students have a responsibility to one another. When that covenant is broken, it affects everyone.
It’s not very likely that a code of ethics or the Yoga Alliance can do more than we can. Whether it’s in a yoga class or elsewhere, preventing the abuse of vulnerable people is everyone’s responsibility.
